ADA's Mission
ADA – Building Digital Confidence
We are in the middle of a digital revolution. There are huge opportunities for digital technology to advance the spirit of the 18th century enlightenment into the 21st century, and to open the vast accumulation of human knowledge and wisdom to all of humanity. But there are also huge threats to be faced in the manipulation and abuse of the technology by individuals, corporate and government interests. ADA is dedicated to maximising the opportunities and fighting the threats. In particular, we must:
• concentrate on the areas of digital safety, security and ethics;
• tackle the shortage of digital skills in the UK and globally – opening the way towards economic growth, innovation and broader social development;
• integrate digital skills and understanding into all stages of education - tackling the variable and inconsistent approaches currently underway; and
• enable citizens to understand and fight the threat of the manipulation and control of the digital world.
ADA aims to help to create a generation that is digitally skilled, confident and creative.
